Topeka High School Graduates Throwing their Graduation Caps

The Topeka Public Schools Foundation (TPSF) administers scholarships to encourage continued study in college, university, or technical school. Each scholarship has its own qualifying requirements and awards committee. Application deadline for these scholarships is March 15 of each school year.

Major General Stephen Reeves Teaching Profession Scholarship

Five $2,000 Major General Stephen Reeves Scholarships were established in 2022 to provide financial assistance to qualifying TPS teachers pursuing a master's degree at an accredited institution and willing to continue to teach in TPS post graduation.

The McFarland TWHS Science Award 

This annual student monetary award was created by Dr. Carl McFarland. The award is to recognize an outstanding TWHS science student.

TWHS Class of '67 Teaching Award

This annual award was created by TWHS classmates Dr. Carl McFarland, Ms. Cynthia Schmidt Heath, Dr. Judy Joss, Dr. Neal Satten, and Dr. David Reibstein. The purpose of the award is to present an annual cash award in recognition and honor of an outstanding TWHS teacher.

BERNICE AND LARRY ROBBINS SCHOLARSHIPS

The Bernice and Larry Robbins Scholarships were established in 2012 by Larry “LR” Robbins, a 1967 graduate of Highland Park High School, as a Robbins family legacy initially honoring Highland Park High School. The scholarship is awarded to a TPS graduating minority senior.

BRIAN MACDONALD SCHOLARSHIP FOR CULINARY ARTS

The Brian MacDonald Scholarship is to provide financial assistance to one qualified Topeka Public Schools sophomore or junior who is planning to attend the Washburn Institute of Technology, Culinary Arts program with intentions to receive a 48 credit hour technical Culinary Arts Certificate.

Coach Beitz memorial scholarship

The Coach Beitz Memorial Scholarship was established by Diana Beitz, wife of Coach Steve Beitz, to honor her late husband. The scholarship provides assistance to a graduating senior from Highland Park or Topeka West High Schools pursuing a post -
secondary education.

Dr. Stanley and Tiffany Anderson Scholarship

Stanley Anderson, M.D., and Tiffany Anderson Ed D., TPS Superintendent, created the Stanley & Tiffany Anderson scholarship. This scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a Topeka Public Schools graduating senior with a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA enrolling in college or who will enroll in college within six months of graduation to further their education with an emphasis on degree completion.

Educators Insurance Scholarship

Scholarship provides financial assistance to a graduating senior planning to pursue a secondary study majoring in education. Other majors may be considered. Two scholarships will be awarded annually.

Doug Goheen / Mike Callaway Scholarship

In 2009, upon the retirement of Doug Goheen, the graduates of Topeka West High School established a designated scholarship fund in honor of Doug Goheen and his long time collaborator and tech director, Mike Callaway. This scholarship coincided with
the board of the Topeka Public Schools renaming the theater at Topeka West the Douglas P. Goheen Auditorium.

Roger Dirks and Cindy Capellari Future Minority Teacher Scholarship

A scholarship for Topeka Public Schools graduates majoring in elementary or secondary education.

Susan K. Rogers Scholarship for Future Teachers

Retiring from Topeka Public Schools after a long and dedicated career, Dr. Susan Rogers established a scholarship for a graduating TPS senior or a current college student who graduated from TPS to encourage students to become educators.

Highlander HPHS Scholarship

A national television network, in concert with developing a televised documentary of Highland Park High School called "Undercover High", donated funds to the TopekaPublic Schools Foundation to provide scholarships and support to HPHS students.

Mike Printz Character Strength Scholarship

In 2024, the graduates of Topeka West High School established a designated scholarship fund in honor of Mike Printz, long-time library media specialist at Topeka West. Mike Printz was known for his ability to stimulate his students' love of learning. That's because he never stopped learning himself. This $500 scholarship recognizes a graduating senior who like Mike Printz demonstrated the character strengths of the love of learning, curiosity, and kindness throughout their high school career.

Nancy Epoch Topeka West High School Scholarship

In 2024, the graduates of Topeka West established a designated scholarship fund in honor of Nancy Epoch, a Topeka West graduate and vocal music teacher at her alma mater. Nancy was also musical director at Helen Hocker Theatre and was active in Topeka Civic Theatre.

Roxy Perez' Legacy JROTC Memorial Scholarship

The Roxy Perez' Legacy JROTC Memorial Scholarship was established in 2024. It provides $250 of financial assistance, non-renewable, to one graduating JROTC senior who is planning to continue their education at a college/university/technical school.
