Elementary Program

Scott Dual Language Magnet implements the Gómez and Gómez Dual Language Enrichment Model, providing rigorous dual language instruction at the elementary level. The program's philosophy aims to deliver instruction in English and Spanish at a "gifted and talented" level of rigor, fostering academic biliteracy through language immersion. By the end of 5th grade, students at Scott achieve grade-level bilingualism and biliteracy.

Classrooms maintain a balance of approximately 50% native English speakers and 50% native Spanish speakers, ensuring a challenging, interactive, and authentic learning environment where teachers communicate solely in the designated language. In the intermediate grades, students take an assessment to measure Spanish proficiency in reading, writing, listening and speaking.
