District Health Committee

The District School Health Council was formed in late 2007. Its purpose is to create a healthier school environment for students and staff. Members of the Health Council come from throughout the community and include individuals from the medical field, educators, businesses, organizations, and parents.

Since its inception, the council has promoted healthier foods and drinks in schools and stressed the importance of exercise for a healthier lifestyle. The Health Council holds yearly events such as the Family Fitness Fun Night at Hummer Sports Park, National Wear Red Day, as well as various activities at schools. These help expose families to fun ways to exercise and to learn about nutrition.

The District School Health Council continues to focus on updating school board policies covering wellness and healthy living for both students and staff. The latest health policy can be found here.

The District School Health Council meets monthly during the school year at 5:00 p.m. at the Burnett Administrative Center.
