At this time, there is no requirement for an annual
physical exam and no premium surcharge is being applied for the current plan
year.
Both the District
and NEA-Topeka HIGHLY RECOMMEND that employees receive routine
preventive care, including annual physical exams. Routine Physical Exams are
important because:
- Personal health and early
detection-
Routine preventive exams help identify health concerns or chronic
conditions early, often before symptoms appear. Early detection can
improve long-term health outcomes and reduce complications.
- Supporting the District’s health
insurance costs-
Preventive care can lead to fewer high-cost medical and prescription
claims over time. Lower claims help manage rising premiums and protect the
affordability of the District’s health insurance plan for all employees.
Employees are
also encouraged to upload proof of their physical exam to the BCBS Strive
Portal so it is documented in the event it is needed in the future.
