Hope Street Academy enrolls students that have struggled in the traditional high school classroom. Hope Street Academy provides caring certified teachers in a small room class setting, flexible scheduling, online classes and child care.

Alternative Secondary School

Principal: Dr. Joy Grimes

Topeka Public Schools has created a safe environment for new beginnings. Designed to meet the needs of individual students sixth through twelfth grade, the redesigned Alternative Secondary School provides a therapeutic approach to assist students in their journey to uncover their potential and discover their "True North".

Capital City High School

Capital City High School (CCHS) is a special day school for students with behavioral and emotional challenges. All students attending Capital City have been diagnosed with a disability and are currently under an Individual Education Program (IEP). Students are recommended for the program from their home school, and the IEP team will determine if this placement is appropriate. The students have access to all the general education materials taught by highly qualified special education teachers. CCHS is a Trauma Informed school. CCHS has staff specially trained to help students deal with and overcome their emotional and behavioral challenges. CCHS has small class sizes and paraeducators to support the students in this non-traditional setting.

Virtual School

School Coordinator: Mcihelle Lucht 

TPS Virtual School enrolls sixth through twelfth grade students in an online program to assist in completing their high school diploma by working at their own pace without the challenges that come with a traditional school schedule.

Adult learners may also continue their journey to earn a Topeka Public Schools high school diploma that is flexible with work hours and child care needs.

Shawnee County Juvenile Detention Center

Shawnee County Juvenile Detention Center (JDC) is a model correctional facility while providing the highest level of safety and security for the employees, inmates and the community. Topeka Public Schools provides educational opportunities for all Shawnee County JDC.

Florence Crittenton

Florence Crittenton is a residential facility serving adolescent girls age 13 to 18 with major mental illnesses, substance abuse and/or high risk behaviors requiring a structured and nurturing environment with active psychiatric treatment. Topeka Public Schools provides educational opportunities for students staying at Florence Crittenton.

Center for Restorative Education

Principal: Mariah Neeley

Website: Kansas Children's Service League

Center for Restorative Education addresses situations involving long-term suspended or expelled students and students who are at risk for being suspended or expelled. They provide academic credit recovery, social work services, assessments, psycho-social groups and referrals to other service providers and community service projects.
