Student-Run News Program

Topeka Public Schools is providing a volunteer internship with portfolio building opportunities for interested high school students. We are looking for students to join the district's new student-run news program. Students will receive instruction from an award-winning television journalist to create monthly newscasts, which will appear on KTPS-TV channel 14 and YouTube. Interns will get on-camera opportunities, filming techniques, and investigative journalism strategies.

We are looking for high school students in Topeka Public Schools interested in studying journalism or communications. Be prepared to meet for approximately one hour, twice a week and preferably have your own transportation. You will also have to be ready to go to school events to cover, then report on-air for the station.

Participants will be eligible for a paid internship at the end of the school year.
