This summer, Kristin "Kris" Jekins, a second-year Topeka Public Schools teacher, published her first book titled "Team Work Makes the Dream Work."
The book explores ways that educators can work in tandem with families to increase engagement and provide the best possible education for each child.
Ms. Jenkins dedicated the book to her second-grade teacher, Mrs. Maxine Moore, who helped her through the death of her father after he was killed during the Vietnam War. She says, "Mrs. Moore's kindness, caring, and empathy is something I strive for in my daily interactions with my students!"
Ms. Jenkins has been an early childhood educator for 39 years, and is in her second year as a preschool teacher at Ross Elementary.
