On August 26, Topeka Public Schools celebrated National Dog Day by recognizing the important role our therapy dogs play as part of the mental health team.
The district employs over a dozen therapy dogs, who positively impact students and staff each day by providing emotional support, reducing stress and anxiety, and providing a sense of calm.
Many students enjoy reading books to the therapy dogs, who serve in the classroom, the office, the library, and in many other areas of schools.
