Cherryl Delacruz, a math instructor at TCALC and consulting math instructor for the district, has won Topeka's “20 Under 40” award.

Ms. Delacruz is an influence to both her fellow staff and her students. Her responsibilities include supporting teachers and providing teaching strategies, resources, and procedures to help them. She also enhances students' lives by engaging them and providing high-quality math instruction that will prepare them for their future.

Ms. Delacruz is an active member of the Topeka community who volunteers with the Topeka Filipino-American Association, the Public Broadcast Service “Learning Across Kansas,” and is heavily involved in her church. She is an active member of the Christ the King and Most Pure Heart of Mary congregations and organizes Filipino-American Catholic events for the community.

The Top “20 Under 40” is awarded by the Jayhawk Area Council every year and honors members of the Topeka community who have shown commitment and contributions to Topeka both professionally and personally.

A person must be nominated for this award and submit two letters of recommendation to be considered. The “20 Under 40” award is very competitive and there are over 200 nominations every year.

The winners were announced in late August and the banquet honoring them will be held on November 11, 2021.

Congratulations Ms. Delacruz on this incredible achievement. It is well deserved.
