The events that unfolded at the parade yesterday in Kansas City impacted us all in some manner. When students witness violence, it can be very difficult to process. Our thoughts and prayers are extended to all of the families impacted by the gun violence during the parade.
Today, our social workers and counselors have remained available to help students process what they may have witnessed directly or indirectly. As parents prepare for the upcoming weekend, these resources from the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) may be helpful for families in need.
Additionally, at this time, we want to remind our staff and families of the gun safety locks available at no cost for homes through a volunteer parent organization, which we appreciate tremendously. If there's a need, you may contact Moms Demand Action - KS to receive additional gun locks or resources at [email protected].
Please contact your school principal if any needs arise. Our thoughts are with all of the families impacted by yesterday’s tragedy.
