Runners From HP & T-West Take State Titles

On May 29, Topeka Public Schools students competed in the KSHSAA 5A and 6A State Track Championships.

Tre Richardson, a 2023 Highland Park graduate, placed 1st in the 100m and long jump events. Additionally, Tre placed 2nd in the state in the triple jump event and 4th in the 200m dash.

In addition, Alesecio Batson, a sophomore at Topeka West, set a personal record on the way to winning the state title in the triple jump event.

Several 2023 Topeka West graduates also medaled, with Lenny Njoroge placing 2nd in the state in the 3200m run and 4th in the 1600m event, while Ala'Jah Brooks placed 2nd in the 400m dash and 4th in the 200m event.
