Dear Topeka Public School District Families and Staff:
As we begin the 2019-20 year, we are celebrating the many accomplishments that we achieved in 2018-19, that continue to distinguish us as a national leader in many areas. During the last school year, Topeka Public Schools was named a District of Distinction for our flexible learning spaces—specifically, the Topeka Center for Advanced Learning and Careers (TCALC), which offers eleven postsecondary pathways.
Thanks to our supportive community, the passing of a multi-million dollar bond has resulted in new FEMA standard shelters at schools, expanded preschool classrooms and added technology in all grades K-12, giving every student their own technology device to use in school. We are continuing to build for the future through the growing development of the Shaner Early Learning Academy, which has resulted in more than 200 additional students receiving an early childhood education taught by certified teachers. In addition, we have opened the brand new Bishop Professional Development Center, which is one of the only buildings specifically designed for professional development in the state of Kansas. The newly opened center is equipped with cutting edge technology for training.
We recognize that through the collective support of parent and community partners, such as Advisors Excel, Evergy, United Way of Greater Topeka, The Topeka Community Foundation, The Greater Topeka Chamber of Commerce, and many others, we are building a strong foundation for our scholars who will positively influence the future of Topeka and Shawnee County.
Thank you for your continued support of students and staff in Topeka Public Schools.
