Associate Superintendent, Dr. Jill Hackett
We are proud to announce Dr. Jill Hackett as the new Associate Superintendent of Academic Services for Topeka Public Schools. Dr. Hackett is a life-long educator who began her career at TPS.
Dr. Hackett earned her undergraduate and master’s degree from Washburn University, and later, she received her doctorate from Kansas State University in 1992. As a Topeka native, Dr. Hackett completed her student teaching at Stout Elementary and then went on to teach at Randolph Elementary for six years starting in 1986. During her thirty-four years in education, she has also served as a middle school Principal and Assistant Superintendent in the Goddard School District, Superintendent of the Basehor-Linwood School District, Education Coordinator, Dean and Vice President of Extended Sites at the University of Saint Mary, Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Instruction at Lee’s Summit R-7 School District, Assistant Superintendent and Deputy Superintendent of Academics at North Kansas City Schools and a Leadership and Instructional Coach for the International Center of Leadership and Education. These positions have allowed her to gain rich experience and insight into all aspects of school district leadership as well as the opportunity to refine her beliefs and commitment to effective leadership designed to ensure all students’ success.
Dr. Hackett has two daughters who have been raised in Kansas and are graduates of Pittsburg State University and Kansas State University. Both girls have gone on to work in public education serving as a band teacher in the Oakley School District and communications specialist in the Topeka Public Schools.
Dr. Hackett works alongside Dr. Anderson to champion the expansion of increased enrichment and rigorous curriculum opportunities focused on college and careers. She oversees secondary school college readiness initiatives and academic improvements.
