Child nutrition department Faqs

· We serve meals in 15 grade schools, 6 middle schools, 3 high schools, 4 alternative education buildings, 5 private schools,  and 3 pre-school buildings.

· We utilize the Community Eligibility Provision so ALL TPS students receive free breakfast and lunch meals.

· Kitchens that prepare food for delivery to other locations are called “base” kitchens. They are French Middle School, Highland Park High School and Topeka High School.

· Kitchens that prepare food for just their own students are called “production kitchens.” There are 12 kitchens like this in the district.

· There are 139 staff members in the Child Nutrition Services department.

· We served 665,000 breakfast meals and   1,470,000 student lunches last year.

· We purchase more than 2 million cartons of milk during one school year.

· Eleven grade schools participate in the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable program.

· We offer second chance breakfast at Topeka High School and Highland Park High School.

· We support “Student’s First” philosophy!!
