Dr. Ashley D. Beason is an accomplished educator and
legislative strategist with experience in both fields. She holds a PhD in
Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Arkansas and has served in
various roles, including Director of Legislative Affairs for the Kansas
Department of Health and Environment and as a Special Education Teacher. Her
career spans teaching middle school students to conducting research on the
influence of community activism on gifted students’ self-concepts.
Dr. Beason's work is marked by a strong commitment to
educational equity and social justice. She has been recognized with numerous
awards, including the Kansas Horizon Award and the Outstanding Dissertation
Award. Her leadership extends beyond the classroom, having served on committees
like the USD 497 Gifted Education Leadership Team and the Diversity and Equity
Committee at Topeka Collegiate School.
As a school board member, Dr. Beason is dedicated to
advocating for inclusive policies that ensure all students receive a quality
education. Her unique blend of experience in education and legislative affairs
positions her to effectively address the diverse needs of Topeka’s public
schools.
