This pathway is well suited for students who are interested in a career in healthcare. Patient Care Technicians learn a variety of skills that can easily translate into other healthcare careers, such as patient monitoring, nutrition, mobility, specimen and blood collection, and medical terminology. Students will also practice critical thinking, communication, observation, empathy, time management, adaptability, and professionalism. This course includes interactive lessons, demonstrations, hands-on activities, simulation, and clinical hours with real patients.
This program spans one year (two semesters) and offers students the opportunity to earn both their Patient Care Technician (PCT) and Phlebotomy Certifications. The first semester focuses primarily on classroom instruction, while the second semester provides hands-on experience in a hospital setting. Students must by 17 prior the second half of the second semester (Spring Break or Fall Parent Teacher Conference week).
Stormont Vail Health partners with TCALC to support students throughout the program. They offer internships, job application assistance, and interview opportunities for positions within their network.
