Five Topeka West Students Selected for Regional Museum Photography Exhibition
Five talented Topeka West High School students have been selected for a regional photography exhibition hosted by the Museum of Art + Light in Manhattan, Kan. The museum invited middle school, high school, and college students within a 150-mile radius to submit digital images for its Where I Feel Most “Me” competition and temporary exhibition. Out of 170 entries, only 26 photographs were chosen—and five of those were created by Topeka West students.
Congratulations to seniors Madison Gregory, William Hitch, Kameron O’Keeffe, and Duncan Yardley, and junior Jackson Reaka, whose original works were selected for display. All five students are enrolled in Digital Photography 1, taught by Ms. Jennifer Miller.
This competition, inspired by themes from the exhibition Crafting Sanctuaries: Black Spaces of the Great Depression South, invited youth photographers to visually explore ideas of place, home, community, and personal story. Submissions were reviewed by guest curators and professional regional photographers Dwan Miller and Marlin Watson.
