About the College & Career Planning Department

  • Dr. Angela Duncan joined the staff of Topeka Public Schools in January 2017 as our College and Career Advocate. Among her responsibilities, she will focus on making sure our students have taken the needed steps to further their education post high school, either by going to college or obtaining training in a career field to enter the workforce. This will include working with the whole family to complete processes for post-secondary education, making sure students have completed all coursework, and helping them explore future plans.

Dr. Duncan has worked in various areas of higher education over the last 13.5 years and most recently served as the director of the Student One Stop at Washburn University. In that position, she was responsible for implementing processes and procedures to ensure the highest level of service was provided for students, parents and others who needed assistance with admissions, financial aid, registration and student accounts. She holds a Ph.D. in Counseling and Personnel Services with an emphasis in College Student Personnel from the University of Louisville. She has a Master of Arts in College Student Personnel from Bowling Green State University and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Northern Kentucky University.  Angela enjoys baking, singing, running, indoor rock climbing, and spending time with family and friends, especially her niece.

Dr. Duncan is very excited to join TPS and work alongside so many others who are working to ensure that all of our students have the opportunity to be engaged in the highest quality learning, be prepared for responsible, productive citizenship, and be inspired to perform in excellence for a lifetime. Feel free to contact her at aduncan@tps501.org to get connected with resources for college and career planning.
