Superintendent Dr. Julie Ford

Dr. Julie Ford became the first female superintendent of Topeka Public Schools when she began her duties as interim superintendent on July 13, 2011. She previously was with the Kansas State Department of Education as Director of Title Programs and Services where she has been in charge of district and school improvement.

Dr. Ford has been in education for more than 30 years. The majority of her career was in Garden City, Kansas where she served many positions, exiting as deputy superintendent. She has served as superintendent, area superintendent and director of curriculum and instruction in diverse school districts in Texas, Colorado and Oklahoma.

Dr. Ford received her master’s degree from Ft. Hays State University and her doctorate degree from Wichita State University. Dr. Ford has been married to John for thirty-five years and their three children, Lyall, Megan and Mitch, all attended Washburn University.
