Summer School Programs

Topeka Public Schools offers several opportunities for summer learning at all age ranges, both remedial classes and expanded learning. Below are the 2013 program offerings which have currently been submitted. Transportation to and from the school site is NOT provided, however some programs have multiple sites for your convenience.

Elementary Summer Program

  • Dates: June 3 through June 28
  • Times: 8am to Noon
  • Location: Meadows, and Williams elementary schools
  • Enrollment:
    • Meadows — April 30, 5:00-7:00pm
    • Williams — May 2, 5:00-7:00pm
    • Enroll at your school of choice.
  • Fees:
    • TPS students: $130
    • TPS students receiving reduced price meals: $70
    • TPS students receiving free meals: $50
    • Out-of-district students: $180
    • Fees are paid at enrollment.
    • Scholarships are available for TPS students who qualify.
    • Stipends may be available for TPS students who receive free or reduced price meals. First come, first served.
  • Additional information:
    • Breakfast will be served at 7:45am.
    • Lunch will be served at noon.
    • Students who withdraw may receive a refund minus a $15 processing fee if requested in writing no later than Friday, May 24, 2013.

Middle School Summer Program

  • Dates: June 3 through June 28
  • Times: 8:00 to 11:30am
  • Location: Randolph Elementary School
  • Enrollment: May 15, 5:30-7:00pm at Randolph Elementary
  • Fees:
    • TPS students meeting attendance criteria: Free
    • Out-of-district students: $180
  • Additional information:
    • Students who withdraw may receive a refund minus a $15 processing fee if requested in writing no later than Friday, May 24, 2013.

High School Summer Program

  • Dates:
    • Session 1: Thursday, May 30 – Monday, June 17 (8:00a - 12:30p)
    • Session 2: Tuesday, June 18 – Tuesday, July 9 (8:30a - 12:30p, no school on July 4th)
  • Location: Hope Street Academy
  • Enrollment:
    • Thursday, May 9, 4:30 - 7:30pm
    • Tuesday, May 21, 4:30 - 7:30pm
    • Both enrollments are at Hope Street Academy.
    • TPS students are required to get referral forms from their counselors and have them filled out prior to enrollment.
    • Late fees will be assessed after May 30th.
  • Fees:
    • TPS residents: $115.00 per course ($230 for both)
    • Out-of-District Residents: $160.00 per course ($320 for both)
    • Scholarship money will NOT be available for the 2013 summer school session.
    • Refunds are not given for non-attendance. No refunds are made after May 30, 2013.

    • Course availability is different for each session
    • TPS students are required to have referral forms from their counselors completed prior to enrollment.

Outdoor Environmental Education Summer Day Camp

  • Dates: Weeks of June 3, June 10, and June 17
  • Times: 8am to 2:30pm
  • Location: Meadows Elementary School
  • Enrollment in-district only through May 24; out-of-district registration begins after May 24. Space filled on a first-come, first served basis
  • Fees: $40/session in-district; $60/session out-of-district.
