Student Transportation
Eligibility for Free Transportation
Students meeting the following criteria are eligible for free transportation:
- Students who live 1.5 miles or more from their neighborhood school.
- Magnet school students who live 1.5 miles away or further.
- Special education students whose IEP requires transportation will be transported for free at any distance.
Paid Riders
Parents may purchase transportation for students who do not qualify for a free ride by calling Durham School Services at 233-2009. Paid transportation will begin the first day of school.
Other paid options are also available. Contact your child's school.
Before and After School Programs
TPS recognizes many children need additional support outside the usual school day. Some TPS schools offer child care before and after school. Call your child's school for more information.
Indian Education Program
The Indian Education Program serves Native American students at the elementary and secondary levels. This program is designed to meet a variety of needs for our Native American students. Services include parent requested IEP representation, mentoring, academic support, truancy monitoring, and a "not for credit" summer school.
