Topeka Public Schools will be recognized nationally for its rigorous curriculum, academic excellence, and extracurricular achievement. Strengthened by diversity, our district will foster partnerships of staff, families, and the community to develop students' educational, physical, and social-emotional well-being.
Topeka Public Schools has adopted 10 learning principles that provide a research-based and conceptual foundation for how people learn. These learning principles should consistently guide all TPS staff in their instructional and other decisions. Click here to learn more about our learning principles.
The 2010-2015 Topeka Public Schools strategic plan was approved by the Board of Education on April 1, 2010. The committee was lead by Dr. Steve Burkholder, Executive Director of Instruction. The strategic planning committee spent hundreds of hours working on the plan and its goals. The committee was made up of parents, students, community members, teachers and principals. The results of their process are encapsulated in a brochure available for download.
The objectives developed from strategic planning goals are subject to regular review, amendment, and expansion. Follow the links below to follow our progress as we accomplish our plan.
