Topeka Public Schools, Unified School District No. 501, accepts the challenge to equip our children with the tools they need to succeed in a rapidly changing world. Topeka Public Schools (TPS) is a recognized leader in education, particularly in the areas of outcomes-based education, curriculum monitoring, special education and the middle school movement.

TPS Facts

  • TPS is the largest school district in Shawnee County, serving more than 14,000 students
  • More than 1,400 teachers and nearly 1,100 support staff
  • More than 42% of TPS certified staff have at least a Master's degree in their area of expertise
  • TPS students score at or above the national average (nationally standardized Metropolitan Achievement Tests) and also fare well on state assessment testing
  • Over 10,000 patrons volunteer in our district annually
