    Is your student returning to Topeka Public Schools?

    Complete the RETURNING STUDENT REGISTRATION if your student was ACTIVE in Topeka Public Schools as of May 25th, 2017.

    Are you new to Topeka Public Schools?

    If your student is new to Topeka Public Schools or your student was NOT ACTIVE in Topeka Public Schools as of May 25th 2017, please visit our Welcome Center at Quinton Heights. At the Welcome Center, additional assistance will be provided for online registration.

    What to expect while completing the online registration form.

    Completing the form takes approximately 15-30 minutes IF all information needed is readily available to enter into the registration form. Information needed is:

    • Student and Sibling information- Name and DOB
    • Parent/Guardian Phone numbers (home, work and cell), Addresses, Work Information
    • Doctor/Dentist-Name and phone number
    • IEP information
    • Health information
    • Medication information
    • Emergency contact information - name and phone number (home, work and cell)
    • Transportation/ Daycare information
    • Birth Certificate - if NEW to Topeka Public Schools
    • Grades - if NEW to Topeka Public Schools - Previous School name, address, contact person and phone number

    Registration Requirements

    Identification

    Students registering for the first time must present appropriate "proof of identity" to the school principal. A scanned document can be submitted during the online registration process or proof can be shown at the Welcome Center or the first day of school.

    New enrollees in Head Start, preschool, kindergarten, or first grade must present a certified copy of:

    • the child's birth certificate or
    • the court order placing the child in the custody of the Secretary of Social and Rehabilitation Services.

    Students are required to provide certification of current immunization.

    Annual physical exams are required for participation in middle and high school athletics and cheerleading.

    Other Information & Requirements

    In the case of a new student registering in grades 2 - 12, a certified transcript from the previous school attended is required. For more information, contact your child's school.

    Head Start children must meet federal income guidelines.

    Important Dates This School Year

    The first day of school for grades K-6, 9 is Monday, August 14, 2017.

    The first day for Hope Street Academy High School and Capital City Schools is Monday, August 14, 2017. 

    The first day of school for grades 7, 8, 10-12 is Tuesday, August 15, 2017.

    The last day of school (preK-12) is Thursday, May 24, 2018 and is a half-day.

    Staff are on duty beginning August 8, 2017

    Winter recess is from December 20 through January 4. Students will not be in attendance from the end of the school day Tuesday, December 19 through the evening of Wednesday, January 3. Class resumes Thursday, January 4, 2018.

    School Hours

    • HPHS, THS, TWHS: 7:55 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
    • Hope Street: 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
    • Capital City: 7:30 a.m. - 2:25 p.m.
    • Middle School Hours: 7:50 a.m. - 2:45 p.m.
    • Elementary Hours: 8:40 a.m. - 3:40 p.m.
        Fridays: 9:30 a.m. - 3:40 p.m. (except Friday, August 14)
